Reorganising and new appointments to the Ringier Group legal department

June 2021 will see a reorganisation of the Ringier Group legal department into the two core areas of Commercial, IP & Technology and Corporate/M&A. These changes optimally consider the changing requirements within the Group and the corresponding demands on the legal department. As part of the restructuring, Laurence Hulliger will be promoted to Head of Legal for Commercial, IP & Technology, and Lucas Hänni to Head of Legal for Corporate/M&A.

Dr Manuel Liatowitsch, General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer of Ringier AG, who has been a member of the Group Executive Board and Head of the Corporate Center of Ringier AG in that capacity since May 2021, has remodelled the Ringier Group legal department to meet the requirements and demands of a diversified, international media company. Above all, this change will make it easier to quickly find the right legal contact within the Group. As of 1 June, the legal department will therefore be divided into the two core areas of Commercial, IP & Technology and Corporate/M&A.

Laurence Hulliger, Ringier Group’s Legal Counsel since 2010, has been appointed as Head of Legal for Commercial, IP & Technology with responsibility for general contract law, employment law, intellectual property law (IP) – in particular copyright and trademark law – advertising and media law, public law, technology, IT law and data protection law (contractual aspects). Laurence Hulliger is a qualified lawyer who completed her legal studies at the University of St. Gallen (HSG), obtaining the title of licenciate (lic.iur.). She also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. Before joining Ringier, Laurence Hulliger practised law for five years at the law firm Meyerlustenberger Lachenal AG. Laurence Hulliger’s team also includes the two lawyers Annegret Kammermann and Stephanie Bruderer-Lattmann. Annegret Kammermann has worked as Legal Counsel for Ringier since 2014. She is currently on maternity leave. Stephanie Bruderer-Lattmann took up her role as Legal Counsel on 1 May 2021.

Lucas Hänni has had an international role as Senior Counsel, Corporate/M&A for the Ringier Group since 2016. As Head of Legal for Corporate/M&A, he will be responsible for the focal areas of M&A, private equity and venture capital transactions, corporate law, financing, restructuring, corporate investment management, and corporate governance and ownership structures (KYC). Lucas Hänni is a qualified lawyer and completed his legal studies at the Universities of Zurich and Alicante, obtaining the title of licenciate (lic.iur.). Before joining Ringier, he spent seven years practising law at the law firm Walder Wyss AG in Zurich and two years at an international investment company. He is also the author of numerous specialist publications. In his new role, Lucas Hänni will be supported by two lawyers: Christoph Aeberhardt (Senior Legal Counsel Marketplaces) and Karin Mülchi (Legal Counsel), the latter of whom joined the team on 1 May 2021.

«I would like to congratulate Laurence Hulliger and Lucas Hänni on their well-earned promotions and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them. They are both held in high esteem within the company and beyond thanks to their professional expertise. I am also delighted to welcome Stephanie Bruderer-Lattmann and Karin Mülchi as new additions to the legal team. I am confident that this structure puts us in an ideal position to meet the constantly growing challenges that we are facing», says Manuel Liatowitsch.
